SLOW COOKED SPICY ASIAN BEEF
Slow Cooked
Spicy Asian Beef – skip ordering take out with this amazingly tasty set it and
forget it slow cooker meal.
INGREDIENTS
· 700g (24.5oz) of braising beef (cut
into chunks and all visible fat removed)
· 1 tablespoon of cornstarch, or
tapioca flour or arrowroot powder - 1.5 syns
· 1 teaspoon of sesame oil - 2 syns)
· 3 cloves of garlic, crushed
· 1-2 Thai red chillies, finely
chopped (add more or less depending on your preferred heat level)
· 2 tsp of freshly grated ginger
· 1 tsp of ground ginger
· 2 tbs of dark soy sauce
· 2 tbs of light soy sauce
· 1 tablespoon of rice vinegar
· 1/2 cup (120ml) of water or low
sodium beef stock
· 1 tablespoon of maple syrup - 2 syns
· Black pepper to season
· 1 green pepper, sliced
· 1 red pepper, sliced
· 1 onion, roughly chopped
· some freshly chopped spring onion to
decorate
INSTRUCTIONS
Slow Cooker:
1. Place the meat in a zip lock bag or
bowl, add the starch and give a good shake or toss to evenly coat
2. Add to the slow cooker.
3. Mix together the sesame oil, garlic,
ginger, chilli, soy sauce, rice vinegar, water and maple syrup and pour over
the meat.
4. Set to a low (8 hours) or high (4
hours) cooking time.
5. Add the peppers and onion in for the
last hour of slow cooking time.
